Individual psychotherapy

My individual psychotherapy engagement is across the lifespan, from young children to older adults. Clients struggle with mental health disorders such as depression and anxiety to psychosis, disordered eating, and suicide/self-harm ideation. I also engage with clients who struggle with complex traumatic experiences such as abuse and I am confident engaging with clients experiencing comorbid presentations (ie. multiple diagnoses).

I also engage with populations experiencing non-clinical mental health difficulties including, but not limited to, relationship difficulties, intrapersonal conflicts, and sexuality issues.

Group intervention

I have expertise in facilitating group intervention in the form of skills building and peer group support. Skills building groups have focused on mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and symptom management. Peer group supports are tailored for specific populations who seek support from others who struggle with the same difficulties they face themselves. My role varies during peer group support, from facilitation to simply holding the space.

Psychometric testing

I have been trained to conduct psychometric tests to assess for mental health disorders, cognitive abilities, and trauma based on criteria in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5). I will regularly use self-report measures that assess client progress throughout therapeutic intervention such as the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and the Clinical Outcomes Routine Evaluation (CORE).

Psychometric testing is only used on as necessary. Not every client will need to complete psychometric assessments or continuous assessment using self-report measures.

Training and workshops

I have developed training and workshops which include psycho-education and skills development through role plays and guided activities. They focus on a variety of mental health topics such as the impact of social media on mental health, understanding emotions, interpersonal effectiveness, building healthy work relationships, distress tolerance and crisis intervention. These have been delivered to groups as large as 100 people in professional and corporate settings as well as to the general population. The content and duration of training and workshops can be tailored for the target audience based on their existing level of understanding of mental health.
